Passo del Lucomagno

Here at the Lukmanier Pass altitude we cross a language but also a cultural border. The Lukmanier becomes the Lucomagno. Now it goes downhill into the Valle di Blenio, the Blenio Valley. The local population also calls this valley Valle del Sole, the sunny valley. Three short, partly steep descents, then plains again, which are actively used for cross-country skiing in winter. This leads us first to Olivone. Two options to get from here to Aquila: the lower historic path, or the upper path with a 70 m long Tibetan suspension bridge newly inaugurated in 2022. The more height we lose, the warmer it gets again.

!! Attention !! At the hamlet of Camperio, km 12.8, we reach the cantonal road. !! Attention !! Wrong signage. We turn left here. Please follow the route on the outdooractive app or your printed map. This path is much easier to walk.

Similarly, in Olivone: those who do not want to take the ascent to the small suspension bridge, according to the signage, stay on the historic, our route as recorded on the app.

Anmerkungen

The "Via Francisca" is also called the "Road of the Emperors." It leads from Konstanz via the Lukmanier Pass to Pavia, where it meets the Via Francigena.
