Tata-Nagyigmànd

Outside Tata: Lake Woman

We walk along the waterfront promenade beside the old castle, then turn away from the lake and walk past the Eszterházy Palace and the Roman Catholic church in the town center. Leaving the town of Tata, the path takes us through agricultural land, passing the tranquil Asszony Lake. In the village of Mocsa, we reach the village museum and the Catholic church built in 1700 in the center.

When leaving the village, we walk on the overpass over the M1, E66 highway (Budapest-Vienna) and continue on an agricultural path protected by forest strips. Soon we reach Nagyigmánd, the world-famous thermal town. We rest at the pilgrim fountain in front of the town hall. The town offers accommodation options, restaurants, and sights.

The Jakobsweg in Hungary from Budapest to Wolfsthal runs continuously on the western or southern side of the Danube. Wolfsthal is located slightly southwest of Bratislava, so the continuation of the route westward from Wolfsthal also becomes a route for pilgrims coming from Slovakia.

There are no tourist pathway markings on this stage; we follow exclusively the Jakobsweg markings from Tata to Nagyigmánd.
