Pilgrimage - together over hill and dale
Along our route there are also several reservoir lakes, but not for producing electricity. The lakes serve to supply the canals with water, even at summit points during dry periods, so that navigation is not interrupted.
At Couthenans, it is quite possible that we will meet fellow pilgrims who have come via Basel, as in Couthenans this path intersects with theirs. The stage location Villers-Sur-Saulnot lies in a terrain basin without an aboveground outflow, situated on a slope at the southern end of this basin. It is no surprise, then, that it is quite wet further north at the lowest point; there is a mix of lake, swamp, and the marsh area "Marais de Saulnot." Hopefully, we will still find dry accommodation.

Anmerkungen
From the Dreiländereck D/CH/F, the Burgunderweg northwest of the Jura curve is the classic route to Le-Puy-En-Velay. Compared to the more direct routes through Switzerland, it is flatter but also longer.
