Chavanay: Pilgrims' Street
In Chavanay, we should not miss the old church and the city fortifications. The “Chapelle du Calvaire” just outside Chavanay is also worth seeing. The following section ranks among the most beautiful of the past few days. After Le Buisson, we reach the Pilat mountains. This final section leads us along the ridge past the Croix de Sainte-Blandine to the stage destination with the endlessly long name. Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette lives not only from pilgrim income but also from local handicrafts, such as silk weaving. On a visit to the town, we will appreciate the square of the six fountains and the church of St. Julien.
The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrimage routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which begins in Le Puy-en-Velay and from there heads westwards to the Pyrenees.
