Start of the last stage in the land of volcanoes
In Saint-Germain-Laprade, we will almost have to visit the beautiful 12th-century church. Then we arrive in Le Puy-En-Velay, first crossing the Loire. Le Puy, with its cathedral situated on a volcanic hill, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1908. Also worth visiting is the Chapelle Saint-Michel-d´Aiguilhe, perched on a volcanic needle. This place deserves a day of rest and sightseeing.
The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrims' routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which starts in Le Puy-en-Velay and leads westwards to the Pyrenees.
Those fascinated by ancient bridges will want to include the remains of a Roman ruin near Brives-Charensac in their visiting program.
