Start in Saint-Julien-Molin-Molette
After leaving Saint-Julien, we first cross the Col du Banchet to reach the valley of “La Deume,” where we first encounter Bourg-Argental, the only larger town of today’s stage. There, we will visit the Church of Saint-André with its noteworthy portal and tympanum. Along the valley up to the height of Saint-Sauveur-En-Rue (which we leave to the right), we use the route of a disused railway.

Col Du Blanchet
Across fields and extensive forest sections, the path steadily ascends gently, becoming steeper only at la Chaussée at 800 meters above sea level, until we reach the highest point just above 1200 meters above sea level. Then the route descends slightly to the remote stage destination on a plateau, founded already in the 13th century. A stage with continuous, mostly gentle ascents.
The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrimage routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which begins in Le Puy-en-Velay and continues westward to the Pyrenees.
Up to the Rhône, streams and rivers have accompanied us; now we must follow the streams and rivers for some time towards their sources.
