Magnificent manor houses
The municipality of Freienbach includes the islands Ufenau and Lützelau. The two islands were mentioned in a document from the Monastery of St. Gallen in 741.
Pfäffikon. A castle chapel on the left just before the station. From Pfäffikon the Jakobsweg leads to the Etzel pass.

Jetty in Lake Zurich near Richterswil
Since 1878 there has been a fixed connection with the Seedamm from Rapperswil. To the south, Pfäffikon extends up to the Etzel pass. Thus, Pfäffikon has always been a traffic hub along Lake Zurich on the one hand and from Rapperswil–Jona towards Einsiedeln on the other.
Rapperswil: town hall, castle (built 1220-1230) with the Polish Museum, numerous beautiful houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. The coat of arms designates Rapperswil as the "rose city" thanks to the many rose gardens. Rapperswil hosts Circus Knie (founded 1803), the largest Swiss circus with its children's zoo.
A section on the wooden footbridge on the lake near Richterswil, from Pfäffikon on the Jakobsweg over the Seedamm and on the wooden footbridge just before Rapperswil - a cozy, beautiful stage.
Alternatively recommended stage 7b from Wädenswil to Tuggen. Take a rest day, visit Tuggen where Kolumban and Gallus were, and visit Einsiedeln.
We follow the signs: Zurich Lake Circular Route No. 84 and walk from Wädenswil on the charming lakeside path to Richterswil. From Wädenswil station it is easiest to follow the main road for about 1 km and then cross the railway tracks to reach the lake shore. From here, the lakeshore path leads along the lake. The signpost indicates: Richterswil lakeshore path.
Between Richterswil and Bäch we enter the main road, which we unfortunately have to follow for about 2.5 km. The lakeshore is developed with larger properties that extend directly to the lake and do not allow passage. Shortly before Freienbach station we cross the tracks (underpass) and follow the beach path for a short distance.
Between Freienbach and Pfäffikon the wastewater treatment plant blocks the path, so we cross the railway tracks again. We follow the tracks to Pfäffikon.
From Pfäffikon the Jakobsweg leads us over the Seedamm to Rapperswil. For this we follow the yellow hiking signs with the green sticker number 4, but in the direction without the dark blue border (this indicates the direction to Santiago de Compostela, without the border indicates the return trip).
Shortly before arriving in Rapperswil, we enter another longer wooden footbridge, which leads us "above the water" to the station.
Rapperswil is also a hub, where the two branches of the Jakobsweg from Konstanz and from Rorschach join.
As today's stage is rather short, we can take the train from Rapperswil to Einsiedeln. The travel time is 30-45 minutes. Several trains run per hour. A visit to the large and well-known pilgrimage site Einsiedeln is definitely worthwhile.
Or we visit Tuggen, the place where Kolumban and his companions were driven away because of their hands-on missionizing method. This place is also easily accessible by public transport.
