View from Tschiertschen over the Schanfigg
Our path leads us past Passugg with its former spa building. The five mineral springs here with different chemical compositions were first mentioned in 1562. The spa was discontinued in 1979. Today, the building is used by the international Graubünden hotel management and tourism school Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality, but also partially for local schooling.
Chur is the seat of the diocese of the same name and probably dates back to the 4th century; a bishop of the diocese of Chur was first mentioned in a document in the year 451.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards Central Switzerland or Valais. The partly alpine pilgrimage route is only continuously passable in the warm seasons.
Chur is the capital of the canton of Graubünden and is a lively city for young and old.
Caution when crossing the Steinbachtobel: if the trail is poorly visible when crossing the (sometimes dry) stream bed, do NOT follow the stream bed in the line of fall, but immediately look for the continuation of the trail on the other side ABOVE the stream bed, where the trail initially runs parallel to the Steinbach.
