Ollon and Dents du Midi
After Ollon, we ascend a hill again before descending and crossing a road at the first houses of Antagnes, arriving below the village at the creek "La Gryonne." We follow this creek on the left bank, cross the railway and the highway, and at "Iles d'Amont" come to the Rhône for the first time, which we follow upstream. On the other side of the Rhône lies Monthey, a place across in the canton of Valais, mainly sustained by the chemical industry.

Ollon and Dents du Midi
At Massongex, we cross the Rhône and thus enter the canton of Valais. At the entrance to St. Maurice, we walk past a rocky mountain pass by the local castle from the 16th to 18th century, which has served as a military historical museum since 1815. St. Maurice with its abbey was already an important stop for pilgrims on the way to Rome in the Middle Ages, so we should feel comfortable here.
The "Via Francigena" is one of the 3 Christian pilgrimage routes of the Middle Ages, whose main axis leads from Canterbury in England to Rome. This documentation initially covers the section from Pontarlier to Rome.
For the treasures in St. Maurice, we also refer to the stage text of "Rhine-Reuss-Rhône Route: Martigny - St. Maurice"
