fortified Romont with charming old town

Today's stage will lead us over a distance of 29.2 km with a walking time of around 8.0 hours from Fribourg to Romont. We face a difficult stage of the day. We start the hike at Fribourg train station by taking the underpass northwest. We follow the signposted paths until we reach Glanewiler and leave along Matranstrasse. After the roundabout, we turn right onto the country road. Today the path leads us over asphalt and natural paths. After about 10.0 km, we arrive in Ecuvillens. We continue along the path and shortly after Posat cross the Glane. We reach Autigny after about 18.0 km. After crossing the Glane again, we arrive after about 21.0 km in Chavannes. The path continues along the Neirigue until we turn right towards Romont. At 781 m altitude, Romont is the highest point of our stage.

Chapel St. Apolline and Glâne Bridge

Today we pass the following sights: Belle Croix, St. Appoline Bridge, Posieux Chapel, Posat Chapel, La Fille-Dieu Abbey, Romont town tower/church.

It is possible as an alternative to this route to pilgrimage from Fribourg via Payerne to Moudon (Payerne variant). Furthermore, the route can be extended by a detour to Hauterive Abbey.

Anmerkungen

The section Fribourg - Romont is part of the Gantrisch-Fribourg route, which will lead us from Amsoldingen to Romont / Moudon. We are on the Swiss Way of St. James.
