To the next section Stammheim - Frauenfeld

Katharinental

Today's stage will lead us over a distance of 20.8 km with a walking time of about 5.5 hours from Schaffhausen to Stammheim. We expect a medium day stage. We start the hike at Schaffhausen train station and walk through the old town towards the Rhine. We follow the signposted paths and cross the Rhine. Today the path leads us over asphalt and natural paths. We walk along the river course in an easterly direction and arrive in Feuerthalen after about 1.5 km. The path continues through Langwiesen and past the Schaarenwald. Always following the river course, we reach Diessenhofen after about 11.0 km. Here we leave the Rhine and cross the main road south of Diessenhofen. Passing Basadingen and Schlattingen, we reach Unterstammheim after about 19.0 km. We cross Stammheim and reach at the Gallus Chapel, at an elevation of 472 m, the highest point of the day's stage. We arrive in Oberstammheim.

It is possible to choose the Schaffhausen-Zurich route from Schaffhausen to Rapperswil-Jona. For this, we follow the Rhine bank in a westerly direction.

Anmerkungen

The section Schaffhausen - Stammheim is part of the Thurgau Monastery Route, which will lead us from Blumberg to Tobel. We are on the Swiss Ways of St. James.
