Lucerne: Old town early in the morning

Today's stage will take us over a distance of 18.8 km with a walking time of about 5.0 hours from Luzern to Werthenstein. We face a moderate day stage. We start the hike at the Luzern boat station and leave the city along the Reuss River heading west. We walk along the Sonnenberg and look down onto Littau. After 8.5 km we reach the bank of the Kleine Emme. We follow the river westward, pass the villages of Malters and Schachen, and arrive after another 10.3 km in Werthenstein. The path today leads us over asphalt and natural trails.

Today we pass the following sights: Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church, Franciscan Church, Werthenstein Monastery

The section Luzern - Werthenstein is part of the Luzerner Weg, which will lead us from Luzern to Rüeggisberg. We are on the Swiss pilgrim routes.
