View from Val d'Urezza down to the Inn
The first village we reach after Zernez is Brail, where shortly afterward the Rhaetian Railway crosses the valley of the young Inn on an old stone arch bridge. The next settlement is Cinous-Chel (ask a local how to pronounce it), and shortly after that, we cross the side valley Val Susauna with the Vallember stream, through which the connecting stage will lead us. However, anyone now looking for accommodation must hike another 3.5 km to S-chanf, the gateway to the national park, and then return the next day along the same path to Val Susauna.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards Central Switzerland or Valais. The partly alpine pilgrimage route is only continuously passable in warm seasons.
In Chapella, there is a hospice that might be an alternative to S-chanf. Romansh is also spoken in the Engadin, although it has a different sound than the Romansh in the Val Müstair.
