    Bex with Dents du Midi

    This variant proposed by the AIVF (International Via Francigena Association) replaces most of the marked original route, begins shortly after Ollon, runs closer to the valley floor and thus has fewer gradients, and also omits the hike along the Rhône, thereby shortening the distance. Additionally, the AIVF suggests inexpensive accommodation options at the exit of Bex, i.e., shortly before the original stage location.

    Anmerkungen

    The "Via Francigena" is one of the 3 Christian pilgrim routes of the Middle Ages, whose main axis leads from Canterbury in England to Rome. This documentation initially covers the section from Pontarlier to Rome.
