Biasca - Giornico

From the station, the route follows the "Via Gottardo 7" - passing under the railway line - towards Biasca Borgo, where for the first time a signpost points towards Personico/Selva. Shortly before, there is the opportunity to go right past the octagonal church San Carlo and climb 40 meters to the Romanesque church San Pietro e Paolo (built in the 11th century), which is decorated with frescoes. Back at the signpost at "Biasca Borgo" and past it, one crosses the Brenno river a kilometer later on a picturesque old stone bridge, then underpasses the old Gotthard railway line at the next large roundabout. Soon, the route goes under the highway and the Alptransit railway line to the Ticino river, which is followed past a quarry to a hydroelectric plant. There, you change to the other side of the river and pass a wayside chapel and the picturesque Grotto Val d'Ambra before reaching Personico. The path goes through the village and down to the highway. Before the main road passes under it, a field path runs along the left side of the highway. After 600m, an underpass leads to the other side and then turning left follows a road for 400m until industrial tracks cross it. There, turn left and - passing under the highway - head towards the building of a hydroelectric plant. From there, the path follows the highway constantly for 2 km until shortly before the valley station of a company cable car - always along the highway fence - it first leads to a trail, then again to a field path, until at an underpass a yellow hiking signpost directs to Giornico, where visiting the Romanesque church San Nicola (built in the 12th century), also decorated with frescoes, is worthwhile.
