Domaine de Bellelay
Tavannes is a traditional watchmaking town and is also home to the source of the Birs, which near our route emerges from the rock as an underground stream already carrying a considerable flow. However, this source is now inside a building and can usually only be viewed through the shop window.
Passing under a motorway viaduct, we reach the footpath to the Col de Pierre Pertuis, which leads to the old road with an impressive rock gate. This pleasant short stage ends in Sonceboz, from where three more gorges await us until Biel.
The Three-Lakes Route connects the «Regio Basiliensis» with Romandy, where it merges near Payerne into the «Route of Romandy», which continues via Geneva to France.
The stages in this documentation are suggestions that each pilgrim can adapt according to their wishes. However, the technical data are always based on the assumption that these stages are completed in one day each.
