Ladir: a village on the steep slope
From Falera, we hike up the Sunnyside of the valley, the Surselva, and soon cross the Val da Cafegns, which, even in summer, channels meltwater from the large snow and ski area on our right down to the Vorderrhein. Before Ladir, we encounter a little frequented access road that takes us to Ruschein. Again on natural paths, we cross the Val da Mulin and reach up to Siat. We continue ascending and go over to Pigniu, in German Panix, and then cross the adjoining side valley below the Panixer reservoir. From Cuolms, one can see the dam.
On the other side of the side valley, we continue walking to Andiast, from where we can again enjoy the view over the Surselva.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards Central Switzerland or Valais. The partly alpine pilgrimage route is only continuously passable in the warm seasons.
