Ascent to the Weissenstein
Today's stage will cover a distance of 18.5 km with an estimated duration of around 6.0 hours from Welschenrohr to Solothurn. A difficult day stage awaits us. We start the hike at the Hauptstrasse and leave Welschenrohr heading south. We follow the marked paths and climb up to the Weissenstein pass. The path today leads us over asphalt and natural trails. After about 4.0 km, we reach the pass at 1,280 m altitude, which is also the highest point of today's stage. We then descend again and after about 11.0 km arrive in Rüttenen. The path continues through the Verenaschlucht, and after about 17.0 km we reach the first neighborhoods of Solothurn. Via the Verenaweg, we reach the Kantonsschule Solothurn. We then follow the Fegetz-Allee until we turn onto St. Niklausstrasse and continue on it to the center of Solothurn.
Today we pass the following sights: Verenakapelle, Martinskapelle, St. Ursen Cathedral
There is the option to take the cable car down from the Weissenstein pass to Oberdorf station.
