Rest at Schlossweid, behind Wattwil

Today's moderate day stage takes us over a distance of 16.2 km with a walking time of about 5.0 hours from Wattwil to Neuhaus. We start the hike at Wattwil station and follow Rickenstrasse northwest to the Feldbach bridge. Afterwards, we walk uphill, passing the Iberg castle ruins and Schlossweid, and reach the highest point of the day stage at Heid, about 4.0 km in, at an altitude of 989 m. From here, we descend into the Bodenwies nature reserve and arrive in Walde after a short climb. The path continues through Rüterswil and after about 14.0 km we reach St. Gallenkappel. We cross the Aabach and arrive in Neuhaus. The path leads both on asphalt and natural trails.

Today we pass the following sights: Capuchin nunnery Maria Engel (not directly on the path), Iberg castle ruins, Walde, St. Ursula chapel, parish church of St. Gallenkappel

In Neuhaus, the pilgrim route to Einsiedeln can be continued either via Rapperswil-Jona (Swabian route) or Siebnen (Rorschach branch).

Anmerkungen

The section Wattwil - Neuhaus is part of the Rorschach branch, which takes us from Rorschach to Einsiedeln. We are on the Swiss Way of St. James.
