Via Francigena: Variante Romainmôtier

Between Jougne and Lausanne, we encounter only Orbe as a larger place on our route, but there are hardly any accommodations there that fit a pilgrim budget. Another obstacle is the distance between Orbe and Lausanne – about 32 km. Therefore, we propose a sequence of Jougne, Romainmôtier, then accommodation between Orbe and Lausanne, and finally Vidy just beyond Lausanne. Romainmôtier is the first stop. At Les Clées, we walk a few kilometers south over an old Roman Orbe bridge to Romainmôtier. Romainmôtier is worth visiting not only for its picturesque village appearance as well as the well-known church and the remains of an old abbey, but also offers rather inexpensive overnight accommodations.
