Here at the Disentis monastery also begins the Rhine-Reuss-Rhône route, which offers a more direct connection via Oberalp and Furka into Valais and thus to Lake Geneva. This route is identical to ours up to Sedrun.
West of Disentis/Mustér, the path then runs above the road and railway line to Sedrun, another ideal stage location before the challenging crossing over the Chrützli Pass to Amsteg in the Reuss valley and thus into the canton of Uri. Here we separate from the route towards Valais.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards Central Switzerland or Valais. The partially alpine pilgrimage route is only continuously passable in warm seasons.
Even from some place names, one can recognize that the Romance language still has roots here.
