The path is marked from Epesses as the «Alpine Panorama Route», an explanation for this naming will become clear. Later we will also find the «Via Francigena» signposting.
At the stage location Vevey, a statue reminds us of the famous artist Charlie Chaplin, and the food company Nestlé is the founder of the «Museum of Nutrition».

The «Via Francigena» is one of the 3 Christian pilgrimage routes of the Middle Ages, whose main axis runs from Canterbury in England to Rome. This documentation initially covers the section from Pontarlier to Rome.
