Castle a Pro
From the church in Seedorf (bus stop A Pro), the path leads to Lake Urnersee, which is the southernmost tip of Lake Lucerne. Along the left bank, you follow the Swiss Path, created in 1991 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation, via Bolzbach to Isleten. Before this village, rockfall nets protect the path, installed directly above it. After Isleten, the path at the so-called Harderband is so strongly threatened by rockfalls that the southern part of this rock band must be covered for 400 meters in a road tunnel. However, the northern part of the Harderband is walkable again, leading through short tunnels with windows overlooking the lake and along an open path section to Bauen. In the village, with its mild climate, palms grow. A monument commemorates Father Alberik Zwyssig, who composed the melody of the Swiss national anthem and was born in Bauen. After Bauen, the path climbs steeply 300 meters, mainly on stair steps. Picturesque views provide welcome rest stops. The path then continues with a slight ascent to Beroldingen Castle before descending to the valley station of the Weidbahn. Here, you encounter the first variant of Via Jacobi No. 4, the main route of the Way of St. James through Switzerland. After the Weidbahn, the path goes down to the small lake but branches off halfway towards the main road, which you cross at the Geissweg bus stop. A broad forest path then leads slightly uphill into the woods and through clearings past the Oberschwand farm up to the Marchtanne signpost (975m). Crossing the canton border of Uri - Nidwalden, the path now goes down through the Brennwald to Sunnwil (Sonnwil), where you meet the main route of Via Jacobi No. 4 again. In front of Sagendorf stands the Holy Cross Chapel with its impressive dance of death at the back of the church room. Soon after, Emmetten is reached, where the Ticino/Uri path ends at the church dedicated to Saints James and Theresa.
