Pavilion above Biel
From the city church, you first ascend a bit to avoid the rocky bottleneck on the northern shore of Lake Biel, where we also encounter the «Pavilion», a viewpoint over Biel and the lake, right above the mentioned rock face. Then a few more kilometers follow along the partly steep slope through the forest.
However, when we leave the forest above Alfermée, the vineyards begin. We mostly stay in the vineyards, only reaching the lakeshore briefly at Twann. At the southwest end of Lake Biel, we see St. Peter's Island, and back there lies our stage destination, La Neuveville.
The Three Lakes Route connects the «Regio Basiliensis» with the Romandie region, where it merges at Payerne into the «Romandie Route», which continues via Geneva to France.
The stages in this documentation are suggestions that each pilgrim can adapt to their wishes. However, the technical data always assumes that these stages are completed within one day each.
