Pilgrimage - alone with yourself

Pilgrimage - through remote landscapes
From Seedorf, the situation changes abruptly: road traffic disappears into the Seelisberg tunnel, and the railway takes the other side of Lake Uri. We are left with a hike along the lake, far from hustle and traffic. From Bauen, the ascent towards Seelisberg begins, and we can once again enjoy the well-earned view of the magnificent landscape of Central Switzerland earned by elevation gain. At Oberdorf, we then encounter a variant of the Central Swiss Jacobsweg.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards Central Switzerland or Valais. The partially alpine pilgrimage route is only continuously passable in warm seasons.
Uri is one of the three founding cantons of Switzerland, together with the cantons of Schwyz and Unterwalden. The mythological "Rütlischwur" took place in 1291 on the Rütli meadow, located between Oberdorf and Lake Uri.
