at the harbor of Bregenz
The stage offers quite a lot for the eyes. From the triangle of harbor, train station, and seebühne we leave Bregenz along the lake past the Mehrerau monastery and encounter boat harbors, bathing beaches, sports facilities, and cozy promenades up to the Bregenzer Ach. We already talked about the Bregenzer Ach yesterday near Weiler i.A., today we cross it on a fairly new bridge in the green zone.

Seebühne Bregenz
Soon after, we reach the Rhine, which we only see when we cross it, because due to the high dams you only see the Lustenau Canal that leads the local water towards Lake Constance on the eastern side of the Rhine dam. When crossing the Rhine, we are greeted by the small village of Fussach, and heading south we come to the larger town Höchst, soon reaching the old riverbed of the Rhine. We cross this between Gaissen and Rheineck, thus also entering Switzerland. With the idyllic "old Rhine" on our right, the only disturbance is the motorway on our left, which we cannot see due to noise protection but can still hear.
Shortly before we return to Lake Constance, we pass a small airfield near Altenrhein before reaching the picturesque harbor of Rorschach a few kilometers later.
The Munich Jakobsweg gathers pilgrims from the Munich area as well as from the east and north of it and leads them to the eastern shore of Lake Constance.
The stages in this documentation are suggestions that each pilgrim can adapt to their wishes. However, the technical data always assume that these stages are completed each in one day.
