View from the Panorama Path of Davos Platz
The path runs through the forest up to Schatzalp, then the view opens up and we find ourselves in an area appreciated by winter sports enthusiasts as a ski resort and in summer by hiking friends. Above Strelaalp, the path turns westward, and to our right we have the Chlein and Gross Schiahorn as landmarks, between them the Schiatobel with the Schiabach. The Strelapass finally lies in the saddle between Gross Schiahorn and Strela and the mountain restaurant is open in summer and winter.
From the pass, the view opens over the Haupter Tälli to the Haupter Horn and northwards to Weissfluh, and we begin the steep, rocky descent down to the Hauptertälli stream, along which we then walk more gently to Langwies, perhaps after a foot bath first.
The pilgrimage route Via Son Giachen leads from South Tyrol through the Val Müstair in the canton of Graubünden towards central Switzerland or Valais. The partly alpine pilgrimage route is only fully passable during warm seasons.
Large parts of the path up to the Strelapass can be replaced by motorized means. In the last part of the route near Jatz, there is a rustic, charming inn "Heimeli" that can be an alternative to the stage location Landwies.
After the steep descent from Strela Pass, we cross a mountain stream that occasionally washes away the footbridge. Care is advised on provisional bridges.
